When a young family and previous client of Minneapolis-based LiLu Interiors was planning to buy their next home, they leaned on the interior design firm’s years of experience and refined expertise every step of the way. From helping the client evaluate their home choices to conceptualizing the entire design, LiLu Interiors successfully balanced the new home’s historic nature with a light and playful aesthetic. “We wanted everyone who walked through the door to immediately know this was a place to relax and have a bit of fun,” says principal designer Lisa Peck.
The home’s spacious kitchen is proof LiLu Interiors did exactly that—honoring the home’s signature Prairie-style woodwork while giving it an uplifting feeling the client wanted. The kitchen island—with a bold tangerine base, stone countertop, and legs that hint at its history—not only ushers a fresh pop of color into the space, but is also remarkably functional, featuring a composting station, prep sink, and ample room for seating. The most rewarding part, according to Peck? “Taking a home that felt dark and serious and turning it into a joyful place that reflects our client’s love of living.”
