Prison writing workshop will share ‘voices of incarceration’ at public reading

For nearly a decade, the Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop has given a voice to the incarcerated. The program started in 2011, when founder Jennifer Bowen Hicks taught a creative writing course to a class of 10 at the correctional facility in Lino Lakes, Minn. Since then, the program has expanded to serve more than 1,200 men and women in all of Minnesota’s adult state prisons.
